Left For Dead 2 vs Resident Evil 5

Postby jwtam on November 4th, 2009, 5:11 pm

Which recent zombie commercial game is better? Out of Hell is not part of this because it is a free add-on mod for UT2004.

I was hoping to play both of these games soon. After viewing the trailers and screenshots of those games, Resident Evil 5 kicks more *** than L4D2.

Well, Resident Evil 5 is very good by itself but it fails on the online mode 'cause it uses Games for Windows.
L4D2 just has terribly bad characters and no chance to chose the old ones.

RE 5 is as solid as a game can get. In my opinion, it's more of a keeper because it has a full offline component whereas L4D's strengths lie in it's online component which you may or may not always have access to.

As for the L4D characters, I really do miss the old ones. I hope that they can at least make a cameo but I understand the decision to use new characters. Afterall, L4D2 is a new game and if they used the same characters, it would seem like less of a sequel and more of a map-pack. Who knows, they may end up overhauling the characters like they did with the original L4D! :)

Either way I can't wait for it.

Oh, come on. Don't assume that OOH is better than both Resident Evil 5 and Left 4 Dead 2. Luckily OOH wasn't for UT3 because it wasn't using the Unreal Engine 3. The graphics are by far the best of UT2004, about to be on par with HL2.

They are both quite different games tbh so can't judge them. I am enjoying the L4D2 demo quite a bit now though, infact thinking of preordering it.

Left4Dead seems like a beta compared to its sequel. I had more fun with the two demo maps than I did with the entirety of the original game, and I LIKED the original game.

Glad you feel that way 'cause my opinion is the complete opposite. :P

It's just 1 map but the first 2 areas. Just like the demo of the original L4D.

L4D2 should be an expansion rather than a sequel.

Heh, i agree this should have been an expansion but... that wasn't what they ended up doing.
Maybe they'll fuse the games later on if the person has both. :)

Well I found out more details about Left For Dead 2.

Fortunately there has been some good favorable reviews after the release. 23 new map levels, new weapons, new zombies and a directorial feature are some of the new content in that sequel. I rather call that an expansion pack since the system requirements are the same from the original. There's nothing significantly new about this game. Resident Evil on the other hand was much bigger.

Why would Valve make a sequel rather than having Turtle Rock Studios to develop the sequel? This does not mean that Valve can create a better L4D game than Turtle Rock.
